Do the columns come in standard sizes? The columns come in two sizes, 230x230 and 280x280. The standard length is 3 metre.
What strength (Mpa) concrete is required when pouring the concrete? Our system does not require the use of heavy machinery. 4 workers can carry each 3mt column.
Do I need to have a steel cage in the column and a foundation? Yes, steel cages and steel in foundations are required as per the Engineer’s design.
Can I have more than one column on top of each other to reach the desired height? Our precast columns are manufactured to a standard height of 3m. In case the column on site is higher than this, subsequent to the first pour it is possible to superimpose a second shutter onto the column to complete the higher cast (much like a conventional casting sequence of an in-situ column with a construction joint at 3m height).
Can I cast the column in one go? Yes you can. Be sure to clamp the columns at 500 centres.
Do I need to shutter anything on the columns? You may need to have small sections of shuttering as stop ends etc.
What strength (Mpa) concrete is required when pouring the concrete? 25Mpa concrete is required unless specified by the Engineer.
