Century City | Precast Jetty

Century City | Precast Jetty

This is not an every day project, and we're thrilled to have been called to use our precast expertise for the creation of a 20m long jetty, using the Cobute shutters for beams and slab.

Out of the ordinary production

The 20m long structure, commissioned by Big Ben Construction & Rabie Property Group, will be used to ease access to the canal for maintenance purposes. In typical Cobute style, special attention was given to the design and production process, to factor in the load requirements, the element of water and the inability to prop.

While the precast elements will be installed on 6.5m high steel piles, special amendments were also made to the production process.

To resist corrosion, the steel underwent a hot-dip galvanisation process; this was not only done to the steel for the precast ribs and beams, but also to the additional steel and mesh. A Sika additive solution was used in the concrete mix to waterproof the concrete for the factory casting, as well as the final concrete pour on site.

The final product is not only functional, but it simplifies the beauty of the Cobute Precast Concrete shutters in action. Get in touch to find out how we can add value to your next project!
