This new residence in Atlantic Beach by Cape Town-based Contractor Perfect Projects is coming to completion and it features the Cobute precast solutions for beams, slab and staircase, designed by Pr.Engineer Mark Labrum. This allowed for dramatic time and structural benefits of an integrated system, to the delight of the contractor and the client.

The beam, deck and staircase solutions can be cast in one pour.

In the specific, the decking was H250 and 175 mm, and beam-in-slabs were used as well as edge ribs, to avoid the use of timber shutters.

The Cobute beam designed by Mark Labrum was upstanding.

The staircase structure consists of left and right girders that form the shell, with panels and ribs forming the body of the stairs. The risers are precast while the tread is formed with the concrete cast. There are no measurement constraints and in this project, the stairs were manufactured  1.5 wide.

Cobute precast shutters for stairs and beam allow for an integrated structure, which is cast together.
